What is it about Istanbul…
Perhaps because it was sunny, I saw the best side of Istanbul.
But I won’t deny that it may have been because of the amazing food. That tends to get me every time.
And a healthy start to the day meant I didn’t have to feel so guilty about indulging in baklava later!
Could it be the amazing spice markets where I picked up delicious teas and Turkish delight?
Or the modern meets tradition, Asia meets Europe flavour that appealed to me?
And that history seemed to be present around every corner? Like in the amazing Aya Sofia. (I’m not much a see every site in the city kinda gal so I picked what I thought would be the best.)
Or could it be the modern art scene? Oh the modern art. I spent at least two days just visiting galleries. Like SALT Beygolu. A-maz-ing!
But maybe, just maybe, knowing that I had eight days to spend in the amazing city meant I was able to relax and enjoy every moment while soaking up the atmosphere in the trendy Galata area. By the way, I highly recommend Museum of Innocence by Orhan Pamuk, especially if you are visiting Istanbul or planning to!
Or perhaps because I was in desperate need of an escape from my day-to-day life and Istanbul provided a perfect retreat.
